ST. LOUIS -- The Sikeston girls track team placed first in three relay events while Antravia Green took second in the 100-meter dash qualifying them and more for state following the Class 4 and Class 3 sectional meets Saturday at Lutheran South High School.
Sikeston's Earnest Fobbs took first in the triple jump with a leap of 45-9 1/4 and also placed second in the long jump to qualify himself for the state meet. The 4x400 relay team also qualified after a second place time of 3:27.81.
In Class 3, Dexter's Makayla Waldner qualified in four events winning both the 100 and 300 hurdle events with times of 15.23 and 43.73. She finished second in the 200-meter dash with a 25.86 and third in the long jump at 17-5.
Dexter's Madeline Webb placed second in the shot put with a throw of 31-8 3/4.
New Madrid County Central's Ronnie King finished fourth in both the 100 and 200 with times of 11.52 and 23.34.
The top four finishers in each sectional event qualified to take part in the Class 4 state track and field meet starting Friday on the campus of Lincoln University at Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City.
