Haywood City man in custody for burglary, stealing

BENTON -- A Haywood City man is in custody on burglary, stealing and property damage charges.

According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, Darion L. Gipson, 20, is charged with the Class C felony of second degree burglary, the Class C felony of stealing over $500 and the Class B misdemeanor of property damage.

Walter said in a release that on Monday a deputy responded to 440 Hickory St. in Haywood City in reference to a burglary and stealing report.

The victim told the deputy that her residence was broken into and someone stole over $1,000 in stereo equipment and loose change. A witness told the victim that Gipson had stolen the items and taken them to his grandmother's house at 121 Walnut St. in Haywood City. The witness reportedly saw Gipson with the stolen items at the house.
