MINER -- The intention to remove Miner's mayor by impeachment was again voiced during a Miner Board of Aldermen meeting.
Mayor Darren Chapman said during the Board's regular monthly meeting Tuesday that he placed his resignation on the agenda at the request of a Board member but has no intention of walking away from the office.
"I'm not going to resign," Chapman said. "I'm here for the city, to better the city."
The meeting was held Tuesday after being rescheduled from May 19 due to lack of a quorum. Board members Deloris Smith, Janet Williams and Betty Barnes failed to attend the regular meeting scheduled May 19 after requesting the mayor's resignation in a closed May 18 meeting.
Cathy Walters, the fourth board member, said she objected to the discussion May 18 as it was not among the items permitted under Missouri's Sunshine Law to be discussed in a session closed to the public.
