SIKESTON -- Grayson Cantrell, daughter of Glen and Mindy Cantrell, has been selected by the 100-year-old Kings Highway Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as the Good Citizen from Sikeston High School.
The Good Citizen award was established in 1934 (81 years ago) to honor outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate the qualities of dependability, which includes truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality; service, which includes cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others; leadership, which includes personality, self-control and the ability to assume responsibility; and patriotism, which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation. These four qualities must be present to an "outstanding degree."
