One jailed after traffic stop yields narcotics and a concealed weapon

EAST PRAIRIE - A traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics and a concealed weapon.

The East Prairie Police Department reported the arrest of Alexander Brown, 22, of East Prairie on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute.

According to a news release from the Department at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday, an East Prairie Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a pickup for defective equipment. After a search on the motor vehicle, which was driven by Brown, the officer found and seized several items consistent with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute marihuana, narcotics and concealed loaded firearm.

Brown's bond on the charges was set at $25,000 cash or surety bond amount.

Pending charges for unlawful use of weapon is expected, authorities reported.
