MINER -- Work on Miner's new water distribution system is slated to begin this fall.

Miner Board of Aldermen members accepted during their last regular meeting June 23 the low bid offered by KJACS Contractors of Poplar Bluff for construction of the water system.

"We had projected $450,000 for it and it came in at $434,925 so I think we bid it at the right time," said Chris Lambert of Lambert Engineering and Surveying, city engineer.

The next lowest bid from Robertson Inc. of Poplar Bluff came in "a little bit over our estimate," Lambert said, at $479,871. The third bid was for $568,060 from G and C Contracting of Perryville.

Lambert noted KJACS Contractors was also selected by the city of Chaffee for a very similar project there which is now in the final stages of completion.

"I think they are pretty happy with it," he said.
