Laney Stone and Hunter Warren of the Bootheel Racers swimming program have had quite a summer in the pool. At meets throughout the Midwest and Mid-South these two young athletes have made their presence felt. Laney Stone and Beau-Hunter Warren of Portageville represented the Bootheel Racers of Caruthersville and their hometown of Portageville well!
Laney is the 9 year old daughter of B.J. and Terri Stone.  Beau-Hunter is the 10 year old son of Jon and Heather Warren.

Laney Stone and Hunter Warren of the Bootheel Racers swimming program have had quite a summer in the pool. At meets throughout the Midwest and Mid-South these two young athletes have made their presence felt. When asked about the performance of Laney and Hunter in the summer 2015 season Coach Spence Royer offered the following: "Laney and Hunter have completely exceeded my expectations and have firmly demonstrated that they are some of the best young swimming talent in our area. With continued hard work and dedication these two can achieve amazing things in the sport of swimming. I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish moving forward."

Laney Stone started the championship phase of the season early by competing in the Mid-South Swimming Conference Championships in Tunica, MS on July 19th. She was able to place in the top 8 in all of her events and won the 50 breast and was an integral part of the victorious 100 free relay. Based on her efforts, she also was awarded a high point trophy which is reserved for the top 3 point scorers in each age group and is an honor to achieve.

Nearly 600 competitors representing 18 different teams, as well as, several unattached swimmer will converge at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. The competition will begin on Friday in the U.S. Swimming Ozark Long Course Championships. The events will run beginning Friday through Sunday.

In order to qualify for the Ozark Chamionships, swimmer must have achieved a "BB" time standard in each event entered.

Laney Stone qualified in 100 Breast, 50 Breast

Beau-Hunter Warren qualified in: 50 Back, 50 Fly, 50 Free, 100 Free, 50 Breast

Stone placed:

18th in the 100 Meter Breast

18th in the 50 Meter Breast

Warren placed:

19th in the 50 Meter Back

11th in the 50 Meter Fly

4th in the 50 Meter Free (first "A" time)

6th in the 100 Meter Free (first "A" time...barely missing "AA" time!)

17th in the 50 Meter Breast

The Bootheel Racers are set to enter into to 2015-16 season and it appears that they are stacked with some fast young talent. Last year the Racers were able to achieve third place at the MSSC Winter Championships in Tunica MS. Coach Royer looks to build upon these results in the coming months.
