Rodeo Week Festivities
In addition to the 63rd Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, which is Wednesday through Saturday at 1308 N. Ingram Road, several activities are planned this week in Sikeston. Here are just a few:
MONDAY
-- Slack: 6 p.m., free at rodeo grounds; team roping/calf roping
-- Downtown Rodeo Walk: Over 60 years of Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo history is featured on this walk route, which begins at the Depot Museum and Gallery, 116 W. Malone Ave., Downtown Sikeston. (This is offered throughout the week.)
TUESDAY
-- Slack: 6 p.m., free at rodeo grounds; steer wrestling/barrel racing
WEDNESDAY
-- Rodeo Pancake Breafkast: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., 126 E. Front St., Downtown Sikeston
-- Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo: 6 p.m. gates open and action starts at 7 p.m. Concerts begin after the last rodeo event of the evening. Musical guest is Cole Swindell. Specialty act is Trick and Roman rider Jessica Blair.
THURSDAY
-- Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo: 6 p.m. gates open and action starts at 7 p.m. Concerts begin after the last rodeo event of the evening. Musical guest is Joe Diffie. Specialty act is Trick and Roman rider Jessica Blair. Bullfighting also takes place this night.
FRIDAY
-- Sikeston Jaycee Rodeo behind-the-chutes tours: 10 a.m. at the rodeo grounds. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No admission fee.
-- Lunch with the Rodeo Clowns and Rodeo Royalty: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sikeston Outlet Stores, 100 Outlet Drive. The event will be indoors with lunch by SEMO Shriners, autographs, face painting and more.
-- Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo: 6 p.m. gates open and action starts at 7 p.m. Concerts begin after the last rodeo event of the evening. Musical guest is Chris Young. Specialty act is Trick and Roman rider Jessica Blair.
SATURDAY
-- Cowboy Cook-off: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Malone Park, 200 W. Center St., Downtown Sikeston
-- Rodeo Parade: 10 a.m., begins at Salcedo Road, then travels south on North Kingshighway ending in Downtown Sikeston.
-- Cowboy-Up! Festival: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Downtown Sikeston.Enjoy live music, concessions, stage coach rides, roping and branding exhibitions hosted by the Sikeston Depot Museum and Gallery.
-- Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo: 6 p.m. gates open; action starts at 7 p.m. Concerts begin after the last rodeo event of the evening. Musical guest is Aaron Lewis. Specialty act is Trick and Roman rider Jessica Blair.
-- Bootheel Quilters Guild Quilt Show: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with bed-turning presentations at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Miner Convention Center, 2610 East Malone Ave. The quilt show is also held Sunday, Aug. 9.
