Speakout

Don't say we all don't care

Dear "Dare to care," First of all, how dare you to lump all home health workers in one lump. Obviously you have had a bad experience with someone, but we are all not that way. We work very hard doing things that are needed and many, many things just because we care about them. The ladies I take care of are like my family and most of the time, almost always, their family doesn't check on them at all, even when they live right here in town. As far as the workers being switched after two years that are benefiting these people, we're all they have to talk to and they don't want new people or strangers in their home. So before you speakout, know what you are talking about first.

The mighty hunter

I don't know the man who killed the lion, but I think I can tell you about him. He thinks of himself as a big shot, the mighty hunter, pretending perhaps that his life is in danger. There is nothing admirable about murder in a controlled hunt. It's not a hunt at all. It's no more than shooting fish in a barrel. It's a case of someone trying to prove his manhood by trying to best a wild animal caged in a pen. How sick is that?

No splashing for me

I live in between Kennedy and Summer and we went to check about being a member at the North Acres pool about a year ago. They told us it would be $800. I thought that couldn't be right. They said they had to do a winter maintenance on it, so we just forgot about it. A few weeks ago we went down there to try and talk to somebody. The only one there was a lifeguard and she didn't know squat, how much you pay, how often you pay. She offered to give me a lady's number and then she couldn't find it in her phone. Then she wanted my number for her to call me. The lady never called. You can go by there anytime and there's no more than 10 people there, so I can see why it's $800 a summer. That's all I've got to say on the subject. Happy swimming.

In the swim

I would like to give a compliment to Jeff Partridge of the YMCA. I have visited the Y several times this summer. I was delighted to see that the lifeguard girls are properly dressed this year. I feel like they are dressed as specified in No. 3 in the YMCA member's rules of conduct. It's nice to see that they are not in bikinis or scanty swimsuits this year. Thank you.
