Jackson man pleads not guilty to sodomy charge

JACKSON (SMNS) -- A Jackson man accused of first-degree statutory sodomy pleaded not guilty Monday.

Jeffrey B. Moffat, 55, is accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl with his fingers while baby-sitting her and her sisters at the girls' home in 2014.

Moffat's next court appearance will be for a motion hearing Oct. 16.

Assistant public defender Amanda Altman told the court she plans to file motions for a reduction in bond and change of venue.
