MINER -- The installation of Miner's new water distribution system has started.

Digging began Friday by Redneck Trailer Supplies on East Malone, according to Chris Lambert of Lambert Engineering and Surveying, city engineer.

Most of the lines will be put in with holes dug by "directional boring" rather than open trenches, according to Chris Lambert, city engineer, but open trenches will be needed for service lines. Construction of the water system is being done by KJACS Contractors of Poplar Bluff who came in as the low bidder at $434,925 and were awarded the contract June 23 by the Board of Aldermen.

The new water distribution system will be built around a new 12-inch water loop which will feed new six-inch mains, according to Lambert.
