President fails to see damage he has done

While the national media was focused on President Obama's Oregon visit with families of school shooting victims, a more important story developed when the President later that day traveled to California for a fundraiser.

In remarks that can only be described as delusional, the President told the wealthy gathering: "There's almost no measure by which we're not better off now than we were when I came into office."

In a display of unparalleled hubris, this President actually told the donors that he couldn't take credit for all of this progress alone. Others actually helped along the way.

The President started his laundry list of accomplishments by touting the economic improvements on job creation and unemployment.

He somehow failed to mention the massive growth of entitlements and the record number of Americans who have abandoned the job market.

He bragged about the increase in clean energy production without mentioning the minimal impact on his climate change agenda or the billions of tax dollars spent on this folly.

And he actually claimed one of his greatest accomplishments - remember "he" didn't do it all alone - was the improvement in America's standing in the eyes of the world.

Finally, to throw some red meat to the partisan fundraiser, the President said he would have accomplished so much more but for those knuckle-dragging Republicans who did not share of vision.

No President in history has done more to damage the foundation and spirit of America.

His policies are divisive, his judgement is seriously flawed and he obviously remains tone deaf to the everyday realities faced by most Americans.

But ignore for a moment his deception. We expect politicians to gild the lily and manipulate "facts" to bolster their positions.

What's truly telling about his rhetoric is that he may actually believe these words.

He may be so isolated and insulated that he believes his policies have brought great benefits to the masses.

His blinders may allow him to ignore the chaos his administration has brought to the world stage.

He may actually see the increase in poverty, food stamp enrollment and government dependency as a sign of a robust economy.

And he conveniently ignores the failures as clearly not his fault.

He remains in his mind guilty of no shortcomings. The blemishes of his policy agendas are the sole fault of others.

The President is in the final leg of his tenure in the White House and his mission is designed to formalize his legacy.

I get it!

But the legacy themes he has chosen clearly illustrate a man short on reality, long on ego and delusional if he truly believes the words written for him.

His fundraising speech failed to mention immigration, ISIS, Putin and race relations as additional legacies of his presidency.

Perhaps his teleprompter was broken on these topics.
