SIKESTON -- Sikeston Little Theatre kicks off its four-day production Thursday of the adult comedy musical, "Nunsense Jamboree."

Assistant director Sherri Jackson described the full musical as a "Branson-style show."

"It's a lot of like the 'Laugh-In' show and 'Hee-Haw' and kind of Carol Burnett-type comedy," Jackson said of the production.

Scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the theater located at 506 S. Kingshighway in Sikeston, Jackson said the show is fast-paced.

"It's sort of a show within a show," Jackson said. "Amnesia is the main character, and she wants to be a country singer and make it big, and this is her promotional tour."

The "Jamboree" is one of five "Nunsense" shows written by Dan Goggin. The Little Theatre presented the production of the first "Nunsense" show seven years ago.

Director Terry Jones, who has been involved with the Little Theatre off and on for 30 years, said this production is an opportunity to see and hear some phenomenal local singers.

"I've got people who haven't been on stage in a decade and one who has never been on the Little Theatre stage," Jones said.
