SIKESTON - Members of the Sikeston3 committee are asking people to participate in the door-to-door canvassing, encouraging Sikeston residents to vote "yes" on Nov. 3. Participants will gather at 9 a.m. at the Clinton Building in Sikeston.

The rally will feature brief keynote speeches, and fliers will be distributed explaining the need for the half-cent sales tax that people can take to a designated neighborhood to help educate voters. All rally participants are invited to enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers back at the Clinton Building, courtesy of Food Giant, following the door-to-door canvassing.

Sikeston3 is a community organization working together to take Sikeston to the third power through safer living, better streets and enhanced parks. According to organizers, sales taxes are paid by everyone who benefits from city of Sikeston services -- such as visitors who use the streets, parks and public safety services -- not just Sikeston residents.
