MINER -- The city of Miner has an emergency management director again.

The Miner Board of Aldermen approved the mayor's appointment of James Buckley to the position in a split vote, 3-1, during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday.

Board member Betty Barnes cast the no vote.

The position has remained vacant since April, according to Mayor Darren Chapman, after the previous director failed to perform all the duties to the satisfaction of the Board.

The Board approved the appointment with salary set at $200 per month.

"He is a police officer here," Chapman said. "He will do a great job."
