CARUTHERSVILLE -- The Caruthersville Tigers cruised into the Class 2, District 1 semifinals with a 66-20 win over visiting Kelly on Friday night.
Caruthersville (6-4) scored the first 40 points of the game, including 34 points in the first quarter, to put the game away early. The Tigers led 60-6 at halftime.
Quarterback Peyton Faulkner rushed for 131 yards on just four carries with two touchdowns and added a 41-yard touchdown pass to Tyler McCaig. Faulkner finished the night 5 of 7 passing for 116 yards.
Rodrick Jones scored three touchdowns and gained 70 yards on eight carries while Demarco Slaughter also scored three touchdowns and had 93 yards on just four carries.
Kelly (2-8) was held to no rushing yards but quarterback Kyle Fitzgerald passed for 176 yards on 13 of 27 passing with four interceptions and three touchdowns.
Maurice Davis had six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown while Aaron Graham had a two catches for 68 yards and a touchdown.
