Suspect named in fatal shooting

WARDELL - A Wardell man is being held without bond in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday.

Paul Wayne Rudd, 51, is charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action for the shooting death of his neighbor Russell E. Gray Jr., 46, of Wardell.

According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, Gray, who was shot in front of his house in the 200 block of Back Street in Wardell around 6 p.m. Thursday, later died at the Hayti Hospital from his wounds.

Officers from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office, Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and Wardell Police began an investigation and later took Rudd into custody.

Rudd is scheduled to be arraigned at 10 a.m. Monday in Division 2 of Pemiscot County Circuit Court.

Currently he is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail.
