Man shoots self in leg

SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man was injured after accidentally shooting himself in the leg Friday.
According to Sikeston Department of Public, at 9:30 a.m. Friday, officers received a report of a man with a gunshot wound. The man, who had come to emergency room at Missouri Delta Medical Center, initially told officers he'd been shot in a drive-by shooting at the 300 block of East Gladys Street.
Upon further investigation, the man reportedly told officers he was showing his .22-caliber gun to a friend at the 300 block of East Gladys. He didn't have the safety of the gun on and accidentally shot himself in the leg, according to DPS.
