For the first time in 50 years the host of the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament is considered the favorite to win it.

Bloomfield was chosen as the top-seed for this year's tournament, which begins Dec. 26 at Bloomfield High School, for the first time since 1965.

The Wildcats are 5-0 so far on the young season and won third place in last year's tournament as the seventh-seed.

Kennett (1-5), who shocked second-seeded Jackson during the SEMO Conference Tournament as the seventh seed last week, was giving the No. 2 seed at Bloomfield.

Undefeated South Pemiscot (4-0) is the third seed. The defending champions, Bernie, who won the title last year over Kennett, was given the 13th seed.

The entire field is as follows:

1. Bloomfield 2. Kennett 3. South Pemiscot 4. Doniphan 5. Malden 6. Saxony Lutheran 7. Hayti 8. Dexter 9. Twin Rivers 10. East Prairie 11. Puxico 12. Portageville 13. Bernie 14. Van Buren 15. Holcomb 16. Richland
