SIKESTON -- There is still time to contribute a little joy to someone's Christmas morning.
The Sikeston Eagles Club and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary will continue to accept toy donations for local needy families pretty much up until the last moment, according to Sally Russell of the the Sikeston Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
"I think we will go until Dec. 23," Russell said, "then get the toys all together for deliveries."
Russell said they will be delivering some great gifts the day before Christmas but doesn't want to risk letting the secret out.
"Let it be a surprise to the kids," she said. "I've collected all kinds of stuff."
Russell said the children that will be receiving the toys are from families that are struggling.
"There's a lot of families that the kids won't get anything so we are pitching in to help," she said. "This is the first year for us, collecting toys for needy families."
