Officers investigate report of shooter at school
STEELE - South Pemiscot schools were secured Tuesday morning after a call was received about a possible shooter on campus.
Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield said that the caller contacted the school, identified himself and wanted to report that he had received information of a shooter on school campus. Stanfield reported he and school officials secured the campus.
Pemiscot County deputies, along with members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol quickly responded to the school. Law enforcement officers inspected the buildings and classrooms on campus as a precautionary measure.
According to Stanfield at no time were students or faculty members in danger. He stated his department, along with Pemiscot County deputies are currently investigating the source of the call, which alerted school officials.
