Lady Bulldogs suffer second loss to Kennett

KENNETT, Mo. -- Kennett's varsity girls basketball team earned their second win of the season Thursday night against Portageville. The 54-22 win will help propel them into Monday's home matchup against Jackson and the following Lady Royals Classic.

The Lady Tribe dominated play in the first and third quarters. They began the game with a 10-2 run before entering halftime with a 20-12 lead. In the third quarter, Kennett outscored the Lady Bulldogs 17-3 to push the game further out of reach.

Eight Kennett players put points on the score sheet Thursday, with Heidi Shetley leading the team with 16 points. Dakayla Duckworth scored 11 points while Hadley Hilburn added 10 more.

The following three quarters were closely matched, with Kennett outscoring Manilla by just 4 points for the remainder of the game. Freshman Marquesha Mister scored a game-high 14 points, while Duckworth scored 11 and Shetley scored 10.

Now, the Lady Bulldogs preps to host back to back home games. Monday night against Campbell and Tuesday against Kelly. On Saturday, Dec. 19 they will play Doniphan in the Twin Rivers Christmas Tournament at Broseley, MO.

The Lady Bulldogs are 1-2 for the season.
