SIKESTON -- Local county collectors have seen their biggest ever November.

Mark Hensley, Scott County collector of revenue, said for this time of the year, "it seems like we are right about on track" for the amount collected but his office got off to a great start in November, collecting the most ever for that month.

"We had a great November -- the best November we ever had. We were up quite a bit," said New Madrid County Collector E. Dewayne Nowlin, "but we are also seeing a slow time right now."

Nowlin said collections for November were up $1.2 million as compared with that month last year.

It should end up being near the amount as collected last year, however, as assessed valuation in the county is only "up a little -- not much," he said. "There haven't been that many changes going on but we should be up some."
