CAMPBELL --Two people were killed in a weekend head-on collision.

At 1:35 a.m. Saturday on Highway 53, five miles north of Campbell, a southbound vehicle driven by Cory R. Thompson, 26, of Campbell crossed the centerline striking a northbound vehicle driven by Jimmy L. Harrison, 52, of Lake Wappapello head-on, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Harrison, and a passenger in his vehicle, Billy W. Faucett, 45, of Lake Wappapello were pronounced dead at the scene by Dunklin County Coroner James Powell at 2:10 a.m. Saturday. The deaths bring the fatality toll in the Troop E area to 65 for the year.

Thompson, who was moderately injured in the crash, was taken by air ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

In other accidents in the area, a vehicle overturned Saturday, injuring four persons.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported at 5:28 p.m. Saturday on Highway 62, five miles east of Highway 77, an eastbound vehicle driven by Courtney M. Mosley, 23, of Sikeston ran off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned.

Mosley and a passenger in her vehicle, Chelsea E. Johnson, 24, of Dexter, were seriously injured. They were taken by air ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
