METROPOLIS, Ill. -- The Charleston boys basketball team pulled off a lopsided victory over Century during its first game of pool play Monday at the Superman Classic at Massac County High School in Metropolis, Ill.

Charleston led 17-12 after the first quarter. They went on to score 60 points the next two quarters to lead 77-31 going into the fourth.

Demarcus Sharp scored 22 points, Mardareyon Clark added 19 and Dontarius Sharp chipped in 17 for the Bluejays (10-6).

Charleston's next game will by Friday at 6:15 p.m., against Paducah Tilghman. A win there would assure a Bluejays championship game appearance at 7:45 p.m., on Saturday.

ORAN, Mo. -- Oran fell into early hole and couldn't climb out.

The Eagles were slow out of the gate scoring just four points to Saxony's 15. Oran was looking up at a 29-18 deficit at halftime.

Freshman Leah Cauble led Oran (12-2) with a game-high 22 points. Brianna Stause added eight while Jessie Long pulled down nine rebounds.

Saxony Lutheran (15-2) was paced by Ali Galemmo's 14 points. Ashlynn Collier added 12.

KELLY, Mo. -- Four players scored in double digits as Kelly blitzed visiting Scott City.

Kelly led 24-6 after one quarter and 45-14 at the half.

Mallory Urhahn led Kelly (3-7) with 15 points. Alyssa Tidwell and Marissa Jones scored 13 and Anna Hughes added 10.

Scott City (1-9) got nine points from Tori Buckner.

__Sikeston 48, Jackson 34__

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston eighth grade basketball team improved to 12-0 on the season with a 48-34 win against Jackson in the Bulldogs' home finale at Sikeston Junior High School.

Sikeston garnered the top seed in the Cape Central Eighth Grade Invitational and will play fourth-seeded Jackson on Wednesday at 6:15 at Cape Central Junior High.

"We were a little sloppy with the ball tonight," Sikeston coach Derek James said. "We had too many turnovers. But we did rebound better so that was good to see. Jackson is a much-improved team so we will have our hands full with them in the tournament."

Sikeston led 14-9 after one quarter and 25-15 at the half. The Bulldogs carried a 37-22 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Sikeston was led by Clark Steward with 18 points. Payton Howard had nine and Nick Harrison followed up with eight.
