Here is a look at who is on the April Municipal and School Board elections.
In Ward One, Jessie James is seeking to be elected to another term. James sought this seat last year and lost to Lynn dowering, but with Vince Berry moved to the other side of the city, James was appointed to take Berry's
aldermen seat.
Berry is seeking to keep his seat on the board for Ward II.
When Floyd Simmons became Mayor last year, that left Ward II seat available. With the board's approval, once Berry has changed his residence, he could then take Simmons' alderman seat.
No other offices are up for election at this time.
In Lilbourn, the office of Mayor has a contest between Larry hamilton, Incumbent and John Forthman. Collector Yvonne Morgan is unopposed; alderman Ward I Robert Taylor is unopposed; Alderman Ward II race between Richard Kolwych, Alvin Bobo, and Eddie Eaton. Finally for Chief of Police is Jasmika "Jazz" Davis.
For Marston, There is a Mayor's race between Jeremy Ruby and Julie Brock.
The City of New Madrid has a mayor's race between Richard (Dick) Bodi, H. Riley Bock and Nick White. There are three uncontested alderman seats. Alderman Ward 1 is Thomas "Tommy" Chism; Alderman Ward 2 is Anthony Young; and Alderman Ward 3 is Ryan Riley.
School Board Races
In Portageville, Micah Rone and Michael Prince filed for candidacy for the two positions currently held by Rone and Mike Kellams. Kellams chose not to file.
A school board race is also set in New Madrid County R-1 district as Scott Riley, Ryan Eddy and Jenny Cope filed for the two available positions in the district. The two incumbents are Eddy and Don Brittain, who opted not to seek re-election.
