God's Plan of Salvation

Thursday, February 11, 2016

God created man in His own image. He gave man abundant life. Being made in the image of God man has a will and freedom of choice. Man chose to disobey God and go his own way. This choice results in man being separated from God. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" To reach across this separation man tries good works, religion, philosophy, and a host of other things. But none of these can bridge the gap between sinful man and holy God. Man's problem is separation.

God's plan is salvation through His only Son, Jesus Christ. John 3:16 explains, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." In John 10:10, Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

When Jesus died on the cross He became sin for us. He is our substitute. He died for us. He died instead of us. And he lives today, having been raised triumphantly forever from the dead. He conquers sin, the devil, and the grave. In 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Paul writes, "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

Today this living and reigning Savior calls us to be His followers. To be a disciple of Christ begins by receiving God's gift of abundant life. To do that you must recognize and admit that you have sinned. You need to repent and turn from your sin. Believe that Jesus died for your sin on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead. Through prayer invite Jesus to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior. Receive Him as such and you become His disciple and follower. Romans 10:9 and 13 informs, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. . . For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Remember that God loves you and so does First Baptist Church
