It's all free

I'm calling about "Nothing's free." I've got news for that little big mouth. He'll be needing God one of these days, and God won't be there. If they will just look up to the good Lord, they don't have to ask for nothing. It's all free for the asking.

All jobs are valuable

Hello SpeakOut. Fifty-one more jobs cut at Noranda, smelter has laid off 475. How about the ones that are barely making minimum wage and they get their hours cut? How about ones making $3 or $4 an hour as a waitress? They get laid off. They're not in the paper, but they're a vital part of our society as well. I know Noranda is very vital to the region, but let's put it in perspective. All types of jobs that people lose in the Heartland here, that aren't making $20 an hour to save up for the future, they don't have the luxury of doing that. So, sorry folks. What about the ones that scrub the pots and pans at the restaurants? What about the ones that clean the toilets at the motels? Let's not just think about one employer not in the United States that cuts jobs. Like I said, we hate for anybody to lose jobs, but let's keep it America. The world is taking it away from us.

Let's hear it for the boys

I go to many games throughout the area and have been fortunate enough to hear several really good high school bands playing before and during games. The other night I ventured to Sikeston and saw their high school band play during a veterans ceremony and then pack up their instruments and leave while a sound system was used for warmups. I'm guessing many of them left the building because there was just a small student section at the game which is shocking considering how good Sikeston is. As an outside observer I was just wondering if this is how all games are at Sikeston or if it was just a one-time thing? For as good as the basketball team is, one would think the students would flock to the game and the band would be begging to play.
