Dexter High School has named its new head football coach.

Superintendent Mitch Wood confirmed Thursday that Kevin Goltra will be Dexter's third head coach in four seasons taking over for former head coach Justin Peden, who resigned in late January.

Dexter is Goltra's third head coaching position since 2012. He has a career coaching record of 10-21 after short stints with Kenwood and Obion County high school's in Tennessee.

Goltra was an assistant for 10 seasons before landing his first head coaching position at Kenwood High School in 2012 where he finished 5-6 with a Class 5A playoff appearance after one season. He finished 5-15 at Obion County before he was unexpectedly let go.

Goltra spent this past year at Lake County as an assistant.

Dexter ended last season with a 3-7 record under Peden, who led Dexter to a 9-21 record during the last three seasons. The Bearcats tied for the last two SEMO Central Conference championships.
