SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Cade Douglas and Derez Tipler combined for 31 points as the No. 5 East Prairie Eagles took out No. 4 Scott City 59-57 during the first round of the Class 3, District 2 tournament in Scott City, Mo.

The Eagles (13-13) trailed by two going into the fourth quarter until key plays down the stretch pulled East Prairie ahead.

Tipler picked up a steal late, was fouled and hit two free throws to tie the game at 57. A defensive stop by the Eagles with less than a minute to go led to an offensive rebound by Brett Ellis, who finished with eight points.

Ellis was fouled on the putback with three seconds left and made both his free throws for the lead. A long three from Scott City was off the mark to end the game.

Scott City (15-11) was led by David Smith's 15. Braden Cox added 10. The Eagles ran a "triangle and 2" defense that held some of Scott City's main scorers to lower numbers.
