SIKESTON -- A new chapter in the Sikeston Public Library's history will begin soon.

After a quarter of a century, Sue Tangeman will retire as the Library's director effective Sept. 1. Assistant Director Ron Eifert will step up into the role of director, Greg Colwick, library board chairman, announced Monday.

"On behalf of the Sikeston Public Library Board, we want to extend our congratulations to Sue on her leadership and her direction in taking the library where it is today," Colwick said.

He went on to point out the recent successful completion by Tangeman and Eifert on the $600,000 renovation of the lower level of the Library as a public meeting area and for children's programming. Also their efforts together to provide the latest in technology for patrons of the Library.

"We are going to miss Sue," Colwick continued. "And we hope she will come back and visit us often."
