CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Mississippi County saw very few contested elections on Tuesday, as voter turnout was sparse with the lack of issues.

In East Prairie, Carlin Bennett and Darrin J. Davis were elected to three-year terms on the R-2 school board. Bennett finished with 332 votes and Davis with 248 while Ronald Carter garnered 217.

Also in East Prairie, Karen Coffer ran unopposed for Ward 1 alderman, Robert Moore unopposed for Ward 2 and Kellie Anderson Bone unopposed for Ward 3. Coffer finished with 58 votes, Moore 57 and Bone 66.

Jackie Whiteside and Philip M. Halter both ran without opposition for the Charleston City Council with Whiteside pulling 81 votes and Halter, 61.

Mitch Pullen was unopposed for mayor of Wyatt and tallied 29 votes.

In Wilson City, three trustee positions were up for grabs with only Theoda Ross Jr. and Claude Armstrong filing for the positions. Ross finished with seven votes, Armstrong five and one write-in was cast for William Crawford.

While nobody filed for several races in Mississippi County, there were many write-ins. The write-in results were certified and then passed to their specific towns for a decision to be made.

In Anniston, Rodney Dover had three write-in votes for alderman in Ward 1 while Ronnie Riley and Anthony Toon each had one. For alderman in Ward 2, James Smith had five write-in votes and James Cossey had one.
