Sikeston woman arrested on felony drug and child endangerment charges

BENTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston woman faces felony drug and child endangerment charges in Scott County.

Shantell S. Ardrey, 26, is charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, felony endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child involving drugs.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said deputies responded on Tuesday to a resident on State Highway 472 near Sikeston for a disturbance. Deputies made contact with Ardrey, who owns the residence. Numerous subjects were at the residence and all of them appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic, according to Walter.

The Division of Family Services was contacted due to a juvenile being in the residence.When deputies and Family Services entered the residence, they located a crystal-like substance, syringes containing a clear liquid and paraphernalia used to ingest methamphetamine, Walter said. The crystal-like substance and liquid field tested positive for methamphetamine.

The juvenile was placed with a family member by Division of Family Services.

Ardrey was arrested and transported to the Scott County, where she remains in custody at the Scott County Jail with bond set by the court at $5,000 cash only.
