SIKESTON -- One person can make a difference, 36 would be even better.
With 36 board and commission terms expiring in October, city staff members are contacting those Council appointees with expiring terms and confirming their interest in reappointment if eligible. The city is seeking new applicants as well.
During Monday's meeting, the city council was informed of the following openings: Board of Adjustments, four appointments with three possible reappointments; Board of Appeals, four appointments with three possible reappointments; BMU Commission, one possible reappointment; Housing Authority Commission, two possible reappointments; Industrial Development Authority, two possible reappointments; Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority, one possible reappointment; Park Board, three appointments with two possible reappointments; Planning and Zoning Commission, two appointments with one possible reappointment; Public Safety Advisory Board, three appointments with one possible reappointment; Rental Ordinance Appeals Board, four appointments with all being possible reappointments; Strategic Plan Implementation Commission, one possible reappointment; Tax Increment Finance Commission, two appointments; Traffic Committee, two appointments with one possible reappointment; and SEMO University Sikeston Campus Advisory Council, four appointments with one possible reappointment.
