HAYTI, Mo. -- The Hayti Indians continued their impressive offensive showing this season, scoring by air and ground in a 70-15 win against visiting New Madrid County Central Friday night.
Senior quarterback Allen Mills continued to put up huge numbers, accounting for seven Hayti scores. Mills ran for 86 yards on just eight carries for three touchdowns and completed 13 of 25 passes for 253 yards and four scores. Three of his touchdown passes went to Dayon Moore, who finished with 163 yards on just five catches.
Hayti running back Devante Robinson carried the ball 13 times for 135 yards and scored twice as the Indians racked up 549 total yards.
The Hayti defense, who came into the game having allowed just 12 points in four games this season, gave up 15 first half points to NMCC. Eagle quarterback Brock Blakey hit Darrion Hill for a 66-yard touchdown strike in the first quarter and found Jacob Keene for a 24 touchdown in the second quarter. For the game, Blakey threw for 191 yards.
The Hayti defense, led by 10 tackles and a fumble recovery from Ivory Winters, held NMCC to just 38 yards rushing. Craig Beasley had a team-high 43 yards for NMCC.
Hayti, ranked seventh in Class 1, improves to 5-0 on the season and sets up a showdown next week with undefeated Malden, who is ranked sixth in Class 2. NMCC falls to 0-4 on the season.
