Three East Prairie teens injured in one-vehicle crash

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Three East Prairie teens were injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Mississippi County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 11:20 a.m. on county road 532, one mile west of East Prairie, as the westbound truck operated by a 14-year-old East Prairie male ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected, overturned and came to a rest on the highway.

The driver and his 14-year-old passenger received serious injuries and were flown by helicopter to a Memphis, Tenn., hospital.

The second passenger, a 13-year-old male, was transported by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital. None of the teens were wearing safety devices, according to the Patrol.
