SD ROUNDUP: Sikeston wrestling team splits on the road, Oran advances to tournament final

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Sikeston wrestling team split duals between Cape Central and Carbondale, Ill., Wednesday on the road.

The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 61-15 but fell to the Terriers 45-34.

"We didn't wrestle up to our capabilities tonight, but we battled and learned a lot about ourselves and areas we need to work on," Sikeston coach Chris Lowe said. "I'm proud of our effort as a team and look forward to what the remainder of the season could bring."

Sikeston will be on the road again to compete in the Farmington Duals Tournament on Saturday.

Lady Devil Invitational

CHAFFEE, Mo. (SMNS) -- Oran sophomore Leah Cauble outscored the Chaffee team Wednesday as the top-seeded Eagles advanced to the Lady Devil Invitational Final with a 81-46 win over the hosts and fourth-seeded Chaffee.

Cauble had a program-record 48 points and added eight steals, five assists and five rebounds. As a team, the Eagles shot 46 percent from the field. Kaylee Payne chipped in 12 points and tied for the team-high with six rebounds.

The Eagles will play the winner of Puxico-Delta in the final Saturday.

MaryBeth Knutson led Chaffee with 14 points. The Red Devils will face the Puxico-Delta loser in the third-place game Saturday.

CHAFFEE, Mo. (SMNS) -- Junior Hailey Noon scored a game-high 13 points as fifth-seeded Kelly advanced to the consolation final of the Lady Devil Invitational. Alyssa Tidwell added 12, and nine Hawks scored as Kelly (1-2) led 41-9 at halftime.

Sophomore Emma Wilhelm led the No. 8 Rams (0-5) with 11 points.

Kelly will face the winner of Woodland-Delta in the consolation final Saturday.
