SD ROUNDUP: Poplar Bluff hands Dexter lopsided loss, Oran upends Advance

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Gabe Jackson scored a game-high 21 points but it wasn't enough as Dexter fell 76-46 during SEMO Conference match in Poplar Bluff.

Dexter (16-8, 1-5 SEMO Conference) fell behind 20-13 after the first quarter but their deficit ballooned to 41-19 at the half.

Jason Jarrell and Clay Mullins each scored seven for the Bearcats, who have lost their last two.

Poplar Bluff (15-8, 4-3 SEMO Conference) was led by Willie Lucas' 14 points. Dominique Hardimon and Xander Martin each added 13.

Dexter will be off until next Tuesday when they travel to Notre Dame for the first of their last two SEMO Conference games. They will visit Cape Central Feb. 23.

Oran 66, Advance 55

ORAN, Mo. -- Jacob Shoemaker led all scorers with 18 points as the Oran boys basketball team used a strong third quarter to end its regular season on a high note with a 66-55 win over Advance on Tuesday at home.

Max Priggel scored 15 points for Oran (16-8), which edged out a one-point advantage at halftime. Cole Priggel added 14 points, as the Eagles outscored the Hornets by eight points at the end of the third quarter and finished by adding two points to their lead to fly away with the victory.

Preston Wuebker had 16 points, while Dawson Mayo tossed in 14 points to pace Advance (20-6).

Both teams are the top seeds in their respective districts. Oran opens the Class 2 District 2 Tournament at 1:45 p.m. Saturday against eighth-seeded Kingston at the Perry Park Center in Perryville. Advance hosts the Class 1 District 2 tournament, where all first-round games start Monday, with the Hornets opening against eighth-seeded Marquand at 4 p.m.

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Landon Tenkhoff posted a double-double with a game-high 26 points and 14 rebounds and also tallied three assists, three steals and two blocked shots, as the Red Devils wrapped up their regular season with a dual-conference victory over the visiting Bobcats.

Damion Applewhite recorded 21 points and four rebounds for Chaffee (6-16, 5-1 Mississippi Valley Conference, 2-5 Scott-Mississippi Conference), which maintained a 15-point advantage at the break. Gabe Henson contributed 13 points and four steals for the Red Devils, who outscored the Bobcats by 18 points at the end of the second half.

Freshman Eric Mitchell had nine points to pace Delta (3-19 , 2-4 MVC, 0-7 S-MC).
