CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- Two men face charges for their alleged involvement in the death of another man Sunday.

On Monday, Travis L. Ware II, 25, of was arrested and charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action, according to Sgt. Clark D. Parrott, public information officer for Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop E.

A second suspect, Anton Jones, was taken into custody Monday night in Blytheville, Ark., Parrott reported. Jones is charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to online court records.

At 3:50 a.m. Sunday, a shooting occurred at Club Envy in Caruthersville. Parrot said the preliminary investigation revealed six people were shot in an altercation and reportedly another was injured by a window. The victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

A 11:02 a.m. Sunday, Freddie J. Rodgers Jr. was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

According to the probable cause statement filed by Terry Privett with the Caruthersville Police Department, during the investigation into the shooting Ware told them a fight had broken out between a family member and another individual. Ware said the family member sought his help but then he declined to discuss the incident further.

Privett wrote in the probable cause that "multiple witnesses identified Ware as being at Club Envy and those witnesses identified Ware as the person that shot Rodgers. The officer also noted Ware had received a wound to his upper right arm.

In a second probable cause statement by Privett, he said officers received information through interviews with multiple witnesses that Jones fired multiple rounds at the club during the disturbance and as a result Rodgers received a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Ware and Jones are being held without bond at the Pemiscot County Justice Center.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control is assisting the Caruthersville Police Department and the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
