The Bloomfield Wildcats picked up a 67-57 win on Portageville Tuesday night at the Portageville High School gymnasium. Portageville honored their seniors as it was the last home game of the season.
Tim Hector led the Wildcats with 24 points followed by Peyton Bell and Alex Gibbs with 20 and 10 points, respectively.
Both teams were tied at the end of the first quarter with 10 points each. The Bulldogs lost their focus in the second and third quarters, scoring seven and eight points each. “I'm disappointed for our seniors to lose their last home game, but we just didn't compete hard enough the first three quarters, “ said head coach Jason Irby.
In the final frame, Portageville came back to life with the lead from junior Ian Torrey. With a game high of 39 points, he burned a hole in the net shooting six 3-pointers causing a late rally with Alex Riddle and Bub Lance adding two and one treys each. “We played well in the 4th quarter, but had dug ourselves too deep of a hole. I appreciate our seniors and all that they've contributed to our program,” added Irby.
