SIKESTON -- Residents will lose an hour of sleep on Sunday as Daylight Saving Time begins on 2:00 a.m. Everyone is reminded to "spring ahead" and set your clocks forward one hour.

Standard Time will return in eight months as this year marks the 10th anniversary of the current Daylight Saving Time timetable. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended the period for Daylight Saving Time by four or five weeks annually, depending on the calendar. It changed the beginning of DST from the first Sunday of April (spring) to the second Sunday of March (winter), and the end of DST from the last Sunday in October to the first Sunday in November.
