The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that at 3:45 p.m. Saturday on Highway 60, eight miles east of Wyatt, an eastbound vehicle driven by Loma F. Kenner, 65, of Cairo, Ill., veered across the centerline and struck head-on a westbound vehicle driven by Janet L. Rice, 55, of East Prairie. Kenner's vehicle then caught fire...

WYATT, Mo. - Two people died in a fiery head-on collision.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that at 3:45 p.m. Saturday on Highway 60, eight miles east of Wyatt, an eastbound vehicle driven by Loma F. Kenner, 65, of Cairo, Ill., veered across the centerline and struck head-on a westbound vehicle driven by Janet L. Rice, 55, of East Prairie. Kenner's vehicle then caught fire.

Kenner was pronounced dead at the scene by Mississippi County Coroner Terry Parker as was a passenger in Rice's car, Ruth Bratton, 81, of East Prairie. The deaths bring the fatality count in the Troop E area to 10 this year.

Rice was moderately injured in the accident and a second passenger in her vehicle, Brayden M. Bratton, 15, of East Prairie, had serious injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston for treatment.
