SD ROUNDUP: Sikeston girls soccer team falls in second OT to Marion, Ill.

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston girls soccer team lost a nailbiter against visiting Marion, Ill., 2-1 in the second overtime Monday in Sikeston.

Sophomore Emma Jones scored Sikeston's lone goal with the assist coming from Lyndsey McClendon. It was Jones' team-leading ninth goal of the season.

Sikeston (7-5) will host Perryville today at 5 p.m.

BASEBALL

Notre Dame 5, New Madrid CC 1

NEW MADRID, Mo. (SMNS) -- Garrett Siebert belted a triple to produce the only extra-base hit of the game, as the Bulldogs picked up the conference victory over the Eagles on the road.

Will Ferrell was the winning pitcher for Notre Dame (10-5, 5-1 SEMO Conference). He threw six innings and gave up one unearned run on four hits. He tallied nine strikeouts and walked two batters.

Palmer Campbell went 5 1/3 innings on the mound to take the loss for New Madrid County Central (6-10, 1-5). He allowed three unearned runs on seven hits, struck out five and walked three.

Bell City 8, Bloomfield 0

BELL CITY, Mo. (SMNS) -- Austin Hicks doubled twice and batted in two runs, as the Cubs blanked the Wildcats in the conference shutout at home.

Cole Nichols was the winning pitcher and also doubled for Bell City (12-5, 2-1 SCAA Conference). He threw five innings, gave up one hit, struck out six and walked two.

Gage McNeil was the losing pitcher and also doubled for Bloomfield (8-10-1, 3-2). He went 3 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

CHAFFEE, Mo. (SMNS) -- Austin Copeland hit a double among his three times at bat and drove in two runs to help lead the Red Devils to victory over the visiting Panthers.

Breven Yarbro went 6 1/3 innings on the mound to pick up the win for Chaffee (12-4). He gave up one earned run on three hits and recorded 13 strikeouts and one walk.

Lane Baremore was the losing pitcher for Meadow Heights (5-5). He threw five innings and allowed four unearned runs on seven hits. He had two strikeouts and one walk.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (SMNS) -- Garrett Dobbelare recorded a double and two RBIs to lead the Indians to victory over the visiting Eagles.

Dobbelare was also the winning pitcher for St. Vincent (7-8). He threw six innings and gave up four earned runs on three hits. He had eight strikeouts and five walks.

Coby Hubbert pitched two innings to take the loss for East Prairie (9-5). He allowed six earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and two walks.

Kasten Campbell hit a double and drove in three runs to pace the Eagles at the plate.

SOFTBALL

Bootheel Conference Tournament

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. (SMNS) -- The third-seeded Portageville Bulldogs softball team collected an 11-1, six-inning victory against No. 6 seeded Caruthersville in the first quarterfinal of the Bootheel Conference Tournament Monday in Portageville, Mo.

Portageville jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Arianna West collected a one-out 2 RBI single.

Portageville padded its lead to 7-1 after five additional runs with two outs in the bottom of the third inning. Hanna Cook and Kelsi Miller both collected a two-RBI single in the third. The Bulldogs recorded another run in the frame when Alexis Glidewell hit a fly ball to left field that was dropped.

Miller, who finished 3 for 4 with a team-high three RBIs, added a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Layla Crafton also connected for a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to set the final score.

Savannah Lovins collected a complete game win for Portageville. She allowed one run, five hits, struck out five and walked three in six innings pitched.

Angellina Murrillo also went the distance in the circle for Caruthersville.

Portageville will take on second-seeded Kennett today at 4 p.m., in the first semifinal. Kennett defeated No. 7 South Pemiscot 15-0.

Top-seeded Malden will take on the No. 4 seeded Senath-Hornersville Lions in a semifinal Tuesday at 5:15 p.m., after taking down No. 8 Hayti 21-0.

Semifinal winners will square off in the championship Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- The Dexter tennis team won all but one singles match and one doubles match during a road victory over Cape Central.

Cape Central fell to 2-6 while Dexter improved to 2-4.
