Every year, Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland raises awareness for animal shelters through the P.A.W.S. (Pets Are Worth Supporting) program. Girl Scout Troop 71505 collected donations of newspapers, paper towels, bleach, cat & dog food, cat litter, treats, and toys for the Portageville Animal Shelter. Portageville Animal Control Officer Tammy Wyman Purvear talked to the girls about caring for pets and the importance of spaying/neutering animals. The girls got to play with some puppies from Estes, MO who are being transported next week to their new homes in Illinois. The girls collected over 300 lbs of items for the shelter. Great job Girl Scouts!
