SIKESTON -- Due to heavy rainfall forecast for the entire weekend, the location of Saturday's Scott County Relay For Life was moved to the First Baptist Church, 1101 N. Main St., in Sikeston.
Relay For Life of Scott County event organizers announced the location change via Facebook about 12:15 p.m. Thursday.
"With the Missouri weather being all over the place and the 100 percent chance of rain, we have decided to move the event to an inside venue," Relay For Life of Scott County's Facebook post said. "... So if you're looking to escape the rain, come see us."
Kasie Jones-Holder, community manager for American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, said the event will still begin with the opening ceremony at noon Saturday.
"However, closing ceremonies will be closer to 8 p.m. instead of the original 10 p.m.," Jones-Holder said.
There are other changes in the timeline of Saturday's festivities, Jones-Holder said.
As of Thursday afternoon, "Zumba with Jessica Lopez" will be at 1 p.m., and "Miss Minnie Pearl at the Pearly Gates " will be at 2 p.m. The pie-eating contest is slated for 3 p.m. followed by the live auction around 4 or 5 p.m. Doug Johnson will perform around 6 p.m. or 7 p.m.
"We'll have the luminary ceremony and closing after that," Jones-Holder said.
