FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Former Sikeston pitcher Doug Still held down Arkansas for five innings to help push Missouri State into the NCAA Tournament Super Regional with a 3-2 win at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark., Monday night.
Still, who graduated from Sikeston High School in 2014, earned the win on the mound after allowing one run on four hits while striking out four and walking one. Still (8-2) made his second start in four days after pitching the Bears to an opening round win over Oklahoma State.
Still gave up a solo home run to Arkansas' Jared Gates in the bottom of the fifth inning that tied the game at 1-1. Jeremy Eierman's two-run homer in the top of the sixth was the deciding blow that put the Bears on top for good.
It was the third game in as many days between the two teams. The Bears won the first game 5-4 on Saturday and lost an 11-10 decision in a rain-delayed game that ended after 3 a.m., Monday morning.
Missouri State (43-18), the second seed, will play in their first super regional since 2015. It's the third time in school history the Bears have made it this far.
Missouri State will take on TCU (45-16) in a best-of-three series this weekend at Lupton Stadium in Dallas.
