CAMPBELL, Mo. - One person was killed and five others seriously injured in a collision.
Harley N. Clifford, 23, of Pollard, Ark., was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on Highway 62, four miles east of Campbell, by Dunklin County Coroner James Powell. The death marks the 25th fatality for the year in the Troop E area.
According to the Patrol's report, at 8:34 p.m. Saturday, Austin R. Pruitt, 24, of Piggott, Ark., was driving westbound, when his vehicle crossed the center line. Pruitt's vehicle then struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Amy J. Colbert, 44, of Sikeston.
Seriously injured in the accident were Pruitt, Colbert, and passengers in Colbert's vehicle, Aurelia Colbert, 11, of Sikeston, James Colbert, 20, of Campbell and Justice D. Flores-Brown, 20, of Campbell. Aurelia Colbert was transported by air ambulance to Lebonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Pruitt and Flores-Brown were taken by air ambulance to Region One Health in Memphis and Amy Colbert and James Colbert were taken by ambulance to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The Patrol also reported a driver and 11 passengers in a van were injured in an accident Saturday in New Madrid County.
At 11 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 55, seven miles north of Portageville, Cherylara D. Carter, 38, of Medina, Tenn., was driving northbound when a rear left tire blew out on the van she was driving. The van ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Seriously injured in the accident were Carter and passengers, Parish J. Carter, 16, of Medina, Tenn., and Montavis M. Powell, 15, of Denmark, Tenn. They were flown by air ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Receiving moderate injuries were passengers, Jon D. Johnson of Panama City, Fla., and Tamira D. Love, 37, of Jackson Tenn. They were taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center.
Those with minor injuries were also taken to Saint Francis Medical Center for treatment and included: Peyton Carter, 13, of Medina, Tenn., Tashunce J. Carter, 11, of Medina, Nayimah J. Love, 18, of Jackson, Atira N. Loves-Gibbs, 16, of Jackson, Nagai K. Powell, 12, of Denmark, Tenn., Keelyn M. Shelton, 12, of Jackson and Shauna C. Taylor, 38, of Denmark, Tenn.
