Years ago an American submarine sank off the coast of the eastern United States. Divers went down and attempted to rescue those on board. When they went down they could hear the survivors tapping on the side of that submarine in Morse code a question: "Is there any hope? Is there any hope?" Today that same question is being asked across America: "Is there any hope for America?"
According to God's Word I believe there is hope for America! In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God made a promise to His people. True, God did not make this promise to America. In fact America is not in any covenant relationship with God at all. But we are the only nation on earth built upon the Christian faith and I believe that this verse can be applied today and if God’s people in America will obey this verse then God will heal our land.
God told Solomon in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” God said, "I will hear from heaven." The word "hear" carries the idea of hearing something that moves the one hearing to action or participation. It will be a great day when God hears and heals our land. America needs healing but I don’t believe it will come until the Church of Jesus Christ experiences a true heaven sent, Holy Spirit filled revival!
What about you personally? Did you know that God wants to participate in your life? He does. And this is how God responds when we humble ourselves, pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. He will forgive our sin. He no longer holds that sin against those who repent and He will never bring it up again. He will "heal their land." The word "heal" means to sew back together. It means to mend something that's been torn apart. What man has torn apart, God sews back together! We have a great Healer who can heal this land! He can heal broken hearts and broken homes. He can put back together this land as well as your life.
Happy 4th of July and God bless you and your family and may God bless America! And remember that God loves you and so does First Baptist Church.
