SIKESTON - Two separate investigations by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety detectives led to the arrest of three people on drug charges.
Tony Poyner, 34, is charged with the delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a drug paraphernalia after a warrant was served Friday at a residence in the 700 block of Matthews Street. According to a news release from DPS Lt. Austin C. Henley, Sikeston DPS's Criminal Investigation Unit along with the Special Operations Group served the search warrant, which was the result of an ongoing investigation into drug activity at the residence by detectives.
During the execution of the search warrant, officers located over 30 grams of methamphetamine, cash and paraphernalia used for the delivery/distribution of the methamphetamine, according to Henley.
Poyner is currently being held on $25,000 cash-only bond. As of Monday afternoon, Poyner remained in custody at the Scott County Jail.
On July 19, DPS's Criminal Investigation Unit served a search warrant at a residence located in the 400 block of Wilson Street following an investigation into drug activity at the residence.
Officers located over one pound of marijuana, cash and paraphernalia at the residence, Henley reported.
Arrested were Freddie Turner, 49, and Vera T. Turner, 38. Both are currently charged with the felony of delivery of a controlled substance.
Freddie Turner's bond is $10,000 cash or surety and Vera Turner's bond is $5,000 cash or surety. They were released from custody after posting bond.
"This is an example of how we will deal with individuals that are selling drugs in our community" said DPS Chief Mike Williams. "We will continue to fight drugs in the community and arrest those responsible for drug related offenses."
