Late kindergarten enrollment

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Future kindergartner Hadley Kelley, 5, listens for the beeps during a hearing screening conducted by Brittney Trankler, speech-language pathologist for the Sikeston R-6 School District. The hearing screening is one of several components of kindergarten enrollment. The Sikeston Kindergarten Center will have late kindergarten enrollment from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1. Children who are 5 years of age by July 31 are eligible for kindergarten. At the enrollment bring the child along with a state-issued birth certificate, shot record, Social Security card, Medicaid card (if applicable) and proof of residency. Children will have to be screened and enrolled before they can start school. The screening and enrollment process will take between one and two hours. Call the Kindergarten Center at 471-0653 to make an appointment or for further questions.
